NEVER FLOAT

I, listening to ABBA, dive into memory. Our first, born six weeks early, my desire to make him strong,

Our sons laughing, splashing down the water slide, our foster daughter, asking to change her swimsuit,

Time, swishing by;

They, untying family, adopted children, unknitting hearts, patchworking normalcy, bonds,

Mesh, city-folk, let go of frivolous, Feel the beat, vibrating, bouncing from the black man's car;

Swish, swish;

Hope, pray, abhor the small towns; watch my boys, my hope of a daughter, watch them closely; Do not become oil,

Immerse in truth, NEVER only tolerated, only floating, never accepted; Boys, my daughter, watch, look, listen,

Swish, swishing time;

Realize difference; kindness or pity; generosity or obligation; Detect and define

Will they find the soul that God made for them; Family, real family, one to cleave.... All others fade.

Time, it swishes;

They take, we keep, they spend, we remember; Pour into souls, emotion, experience.

Swishes on by;

City, take us. Immerse children. Immerse! We cannot float. We will not float. Nevermore

No Time, No time to waste
