The Treadmill Incident...

As often as I bake brownies and cookies for my children and their neighborhood friends, I eat them and am...well...shall I say it?....Fat.

My doctor tells me each year that I am completely healthy, with a blood pressure of 120/80, no cholesterol problem etc. I even went in for a complete battery of bloodwork last year. (I have an arrythmia that I was born with that needs to be checked every year.) The technician who ran the bloodwork came into my room at the hospital, looked at me, stopped dead in his tracks and didn't say anything for a moment. He then smiled...I think he was suppressing a laugh. I said "Hi?" all questiony like..Because I didn't know why he was there. He then said, "I had to meet you. I've been running labs for a very long time and have never seen a completely perfect lab." I had no idea what he was talking about. He then brought my LONG list of bloodwork over to me and began to show me where the plus signs or negative signs would be if I were high or low in anything. Apparently it is normal to have a high or low mark in any given "field". It doesn't necessarily mean you have a problem, just that there are normal fluctuations in blood an any given time. In ALL of my "fields" there were perfect matches to the recommended numbers.

I laughed and said, "I bet you didn't think you'd see an overweight, mid 30's chick sitting here did you?!" He just laughed...He was too polite to comment.

At any rate, just so I remain healthy and my overindulgent nature doesn't catch up to me, Brian and I have decided to walk more. For years there has been a treadmill in our basement. We decided to move it upstairs to the livingroom yesterday. As I was wiping the dust from it's underused body I was explaining to all of our children that they are "NOT to TOUCH this." I explained that "it is very dangerous and for adults only."

Oh I knew someone would touch it but I just didn't know to what extreme.

Brise and Vinze had been "playing" with the twins while I went down to do some laundry in the basement. Well, as soon as I got downstairs I heard a scream from Daxx. This isn't unusual..2 year olds scream all the time. Before I could go to see what was up, Brise promptly yelled down the stairs that "everything was okay. Daxx just wanted the puzzles and I took it away from him." I believed it... I yelled back up to give Daxx the puzzles. Not too long after that all was quiet.

When I went upstairs to dress the twins, I saw that the whole right side of Daxx's face was looked like he scraped the skin off his face in patches. I exclaim, "WHAT HAPPENED?!" Vinze came over to say that Brise let Daxx on the treadmill in the livingroom. Was that scream earlier due to puzzles or his face being pummelled by the treadmill! I guess they thought it would be funny to see Daxx try to run on it?!

BROTHERS! UGH!

Daxx will be fine. Thank God it wasn't worse. Brise will be disciplined and Vinze..well I'm glad he's a snitch or I'd still be trying to find out what the heck happened!

By the way...did I mention that
Brownies cure most ills. :-)

Hi Brad!

Daxx is doing much better. He has white spots on his face now but those should go away soon. :-)
