YESTERDAY....


BRISE: "Hey Mom."

ME: "What?"

BRISE: "What is Quantum Physics?"

ME: 'vacant look....eyes darting around for answers...stumbling to the computer...keypad blazing...'

(reading web-site) - "ummm....It's the physics of the incredibly small. It describes how electrons surround the nucleus of an atom and other subatomic actions. It gets into gluon plasma and things called quarks...nanotechnology... It's all about teeny tiny things and how they work and look. It flows naturally into the ideas of Time Travel and The Big Bang, The Big Crunch and such also."

BRISE: "Can we learn about that?"

ME: "Sure" (excitedly and freaked out at the same time)

I'm not intimidated because I take solace in that, had he asked a 5th grade teacher the same question, they would have given him some off-the-cuff answer and went on with their planned assignments.
I can, at the very least, find general information and allow him to explore this subject while he is interested.

The more I read the more I'm interested too! LOL
