OUR CRUDDY SHOE DILEMMA

We have storage issues in our home. Granted, we have more storage than some but for 7 people, soon to be 8 or 9 people living in our little ranch, the storage issue has become a major issue. I conquered our small bathroom storage issue but now I'm worried about winter and the snowy, cruddy boots/shoes issue.

For example, if you were to walk up these stairs (which are not our stairs) you would see our back door. There is a little, tiny landing there where you go outside or turn left to walk up two steps into our kitchen. That leaves no room for shoes to be placed when the kids come in from the snow. Where do we put snowy shoes? Wherever they come off! That does not make for a clean, dry home. Our front door leads to our tiny, little, living room. There is no room there to store shoes either. Especially the ones that need to dry out.

I saw this picture and I have to say that I covet these stairs. I know, it's a sin but look at them. Who among us would not want these? I want them. How do I get them? Anyone? ANYONE?!

To those who have NO mud room or landing space for a shoe rack, I ask you! Where do your children take off their cruddy shoes? Help me please.
