THINGS I'VE LEARNED SO FAR...

I've been thinking a lot about teaching lately. It seems that my days are filled with the desire to feed the minds of our boys. It dawned on me, while reviewing yet another book list, that life really isn't about what we read. It's about what we experience. Books, songs, movies and plays are written because of experiences that moved an individual to artistic expression.

Then I read a poem by Kathy Hansen and was inspired myself.

I began to ponder my own experiences and reflect on how they've made me who I am today.
"How can I pour my experiences into the minds of our boys?" I can't...but I can try to articulate them.

So I began writing.
This is my catharsis on paper. It is what it is...

"So far in my life...

I've learned that blood sometimes turns to water and water sometimes turns to blood.

I've learned that people don't have to believe the same things to believe in each other.

I've learned that in order to stand for something you better be ready to fight against another.

I've learned that if you don't stand for something, you stand for nothing.

I've learned that growing up with strong, loving parents is a blessing not to be taken for granted.

I've learned that what you do speaks louder than what you say.

I've learned that walking away from people who only tolerate you is very easy to do when you are walking toward people who love you unconditionally.

I've learned that allowing yourself to be tolerated, instead of loved and accepted, is a form of self deprecation.

I've learned that people will tell you only what they want you to hear.

I've learned that sometimes people ask for your help when they are in need.

I've learned that some people appreciate your help, some take it for granted and others stab you in the back after they are through with you.

I've learned to appreciate those who appreciate.

I've learned that those who take you for granted are often times those who need you the most.

I've learned that those who stab you in the back should never be able to reach your back again.

I've learned that forgiving a person doesn't mean you have to have them over for dinner.

I've learned that no matter how hard you try, some people will never like you.

I've learned that when you put yourself out there for others to know, you'll find that you're worth knowing.

I've learned that a husband who believes in you will never forsake you.

I've learned that a husband who never forsakes you is worth never forsaking.

I've learned that children are a blessing from God no matter how they are given to you.

I've learned that you better be a strong, loving parent.

I've learned that some things are easier said than done.

I've learned that some things are easier done than said.

I've learned that if you walk into a room and the conversation stops, walk right back out again.
(see backstabbing above)

I've learned that people who laugh a lot are sometimes the saddest.

I've learned that people who listen sometimes have the most profound things to say.

I've learned that people who talk a lot, talk a lot.

I've learned that some battles aren't worth the effort.

I've learned that a smile can save a life.

I've learned that some battles are worth the effort.

I've learned that I have a lot more to learn.

I tag everyone who will do this...
Please post that you've done it and your site when you've finished! :-)
