THIS ONE TIME...AT BAND CAMP...

Yep, I have stories.

I was first chair, second on my clarinet row. If you were in the band, you know what that means. If you weren't then don't worry about it. It doesn't pertain to this story. However, If you don't know, then you weren't in the band, so I should explain that "band camp" stories...are true. Little do parents know that what happens at bandcamp, stays at band camp. Vegas stole that from us, I say!

Between having to change into our band uniforms, in front of each other, on the way to competitions and the high school kids making out under a blanket coming from camp (and competitions), there are enough stories to write a slew more movies, I assure you. Ahhh public school....

But I digress...

The point to this story is that sometimes old memories surface at the most inopportune times. Like, say, yesterday when my husband and eldest son were talking about Kazz turning 16 in July. The subject of dating came up. Brian was having the old "look at her well and good before making a move 'cause if you make the wrong move, you're stuck with her for life, married or otherwise" talk.

Kazz informed him that he's more interested in starting his own business than "hooking up" with girls right now. So, I jumped in to ask a few questions that I won't go into here online...(my son likes his privacy)

The subject twisted and turned to the point where old memories came flooding back. I blurted out that my first kiss on the cheek was by a boy named Bobby on the bus to kindergarten. (it all starts on the bus people!) Then I reminisced about my first kiss on the lips, by a boy named Randy, at a friends house, when I was oh...like...maybe in the 6th grade.

Then there was my first "real" kiss...you know...tongue and stuff. That kiss was by a boy named Eric Blaylock. I was in the 8th grade and he was a drummer in the band. He had dark hair and dark eyes. I thought he was just the cutest. My friends knew I had never "really" kissed a boy. They all knew that, that peck on the cheek and that one kiss on the lips were the sum total of all my kisses.

You know, now that I think about it; Why do we tell our friends anything as children? I mean really! Is there no privacy? tee hee...'she says as she blogs for all the world to see...'

But I digress again...

Band bus, Eric, Friends knew I'm a "real" kiss wannabee....

TRUTH OR DARE on the band bus was a regular occurrence for our band. It was late night, we were all coming home from band camp and truth or dare began... It came time for me to have my turn. Lori Lavender said,

"I dare you to french kiss Eric."

*SCREACH*

I was in absolute embarrassed shock and did NOT know what to do. Everyone was looking at me. I looked at Eric. He was all for it, climbing over the bus seats to get to me. I, of course, was still me so I said,

"Hey I've never done that!" Eric, being the gentleman that he was, said

"Oh I'll teach you."

So I, now staring into deep, dark brown eyes, smelling the sweet, sweet smell of juicy fruit gum, say,

"Oh, in that case."

*sigh*

So goes my first "real" kiss;

in front of a bus full of my peers, at night, coming home from band camp.

Thanks for the tutorial Eric. :-)
