BACK TO SCHOOL - BACK TO HAPPINESS

I worked during the months of May thru July. Much of it is a blur, as I stayed up until the wee hours blogging and making friends on SS. That's what stay at home mom's have to do. We work after the kids go to bed and leave our computers on all day so we can surf and work, between skinned knees and folding clothes.

My good friends and fellow homeschoolers will tell you all that I looked pretty tired and haggard those months. I was a bit flighty due to sleeplessness and sometimes forgot what I was talking about mid-story. LOL But that's over; No more SS friend making for this chick.

I was, however, very excited to put my management skills back to work. It's been quite a while since I've been able to work and I have to say, it feels good to know that I'm still good at it. I have to think of something positive from this experience so I'll take that one. :o) My life is very good. I am blessed beyond measure and my focus will be on that. I've spent a day bawling and another sniffling. I learned a few years ago that life is too short for dwelling on the people who do not care for me or my family. If everybody lived through it, hopefully what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. On we go! :o)

What I will be doing now is sleep at night, blog whenever I dog-gone please and focus on my boys. This little family of ours, 7 strong, is a happy one, so it's time to get back to what I do best. I'm a wife and mother before anything but God, so here I am getting ready for August, when more fun with our schooling will begin.

This year we are going to start Kindergarten with the Daxx and Kole. Brise and Vinze will be having fun with The Dangerous Book for Boys. We will build on the chapters to bring in more writing and math. Kazz begins his second year of college. He turns 16 tomorrow. What a jump he's getting in life.

Today Brian and I went out to buy school supplies for Brise and Vinze. They get tool boxes for school boxes this year. They get to put their gear in it.

So far they have a compass, magnifying glass, waterproof match box, notebook, pencils, fish hooks and a survival pocket knife.

Needless to say they were pretty excited. Vinze wanted to take a picture for mom's blog. That made my day. What better way to get back to life before I began this crazy working thing. My sons, this blogs purpose and a smile. I just can't believe my life. :o)

I am glad that something good has come out of the whole SS debacle.

I love the fact that your boys are using toolboxes for school supplies.

By the way have you heard of the books "Backyard Ballistics" or "The American Boys Handybook"

They are not for the faint hearted, but any boy would love them.

Have a great Sunday with your family

I love the idea of the tool box, we did that when the boys first started Scouting and they loved it.
I just wrote yesterday about going back-to-school shopping because it was sales week.
Just need to order some curriculum yet at the end of the month.
such a cutie he is.

So glad that you are excited and focused for the school year ahead and feel rejuvenated and focused--what a blessing to take this away from the experience of the last few months!

Love the tool box/school box idea--my boys would LOVE that! We may have to take a page from your book...blog ;o)

Blessings!

How much fun! So--16 and 2nd year of college? Is that full college or dual enrollment?? Pray tell.

Hi Smallworldathome :-)

We don't check the box on his papers for dual enrollment. I teach the subjects at home while he takes them at college. If we check the dual enrollment box the 4 year universities may very well decline the classes as college courses and/or high school courses. There have been many public schooled children to feel that sting. It's a sad thing and costly bot time-wise and financially.

If you want to read our whole saga you can click on the "College At 14" button to the right of my blog. I explain the process we've gone through here in Michigan. It may be different in your state.

If you know the laws in your state about this, let me know will you? I like to know the rules in each state. :-)

Thank you for asking.

Toolboxes! That's brilliant. Wish I'd thought of that back when we were homeschooling. (What's SS?)

Hi Carol,

SS is SocialSpark. I worked for their blogging service for a couple of months. The post before this one details the mess. LOL

ooh the toolboxes are a great idea! I bet they love them! :) We aren't officially starting preschool again until August, after I finish my English class. I just bought Carlee a magnifying glass yesterday, and she loves it! She's been looking at things constantly! Good luck and have fun this next schooling year!
