We tried to go to the city Trunk or Treat this year on October 25th. Brise, Vinze, Daxx and Kole put on whatever we had at home in the costume department. (a plastic bag full of various items) We piled into the car and went to the city parking garage where we were told would be various businesses set up to hand out candy to the little children of our community.
When we got there what we found were two lines of people wrapped around the building. The doors were not open and the wind was quite chilly. We walked over, saw how far the lines went around and decided this was not our year to participate in the trunk or treat. The boys were pretty bummed until we told them we had decided to visit our local bulk candy store for the very first time.
When we arrived at the store, the boys filled one plastic bag a piece with the candy of their choice.
They left happy and so did Brian and I. Honestly, it was worth the $22.00 in candy not to have to wait in that long line for 3 hours.
We spent our real Halloween in Kentucky with my family. We ate chili, visited with family and friends and laughed a lot. We hung out at my Aunt and Uncles home eating and talking politics.
Then Brian, the boys and I walked around my old stomping grounds. We haven't gone trick or treating there for probably 15 years. It was fun to see old friends.
My niece, Brooklyn, was a beautiful witch complete with a tattoo on her neck. She was a beauty I have to say.
She reminds me of, well, ME at that age! I had her color hair and somewhere along the line it turned dark, dark brown. Granted Brooke looks like her mother hands-down, but she has my hair I do believe. She was a bald baby like I was and then she was a blonde baby and as she grows her hair seems to be getting darker as my hair did as I grew. I only hope to hand down my lack of gray hair to her. I am nearing 40 (in a year and a half) and have very little gray if any.
I LOVE the fact that I don't have to dye my hair yet. If I can give that to Brooke I will have done my job as an aunt...her one and only aunt. Man, I love that! Thank you Zach for marrying a woman who has no siblings. :o) Isn't she cute!
Brise is the tall zombie, Vinze is the shorter zombie, Daxx is Lightning McQueen and Kole is Batman. Vinze and Brise switched masks throughout the night.
In the end, we all got candy and lots of goodies to take home from my Aunt Tina and Uncle Mike's home. We are told this will be a yearly event.
We Can't Wait! Oh and Aunt Kathy! The kids LOVE the fizzy candy! Thank you! I like it too. Tee hee...

the kids were all so cute!
You were very clever to go to the bulk candy store. You were thinking on your feet - good job! No way would I wait 3 hours out in the cold. Hanging with your family sounded fun. I love seeing kids in costume they are always beaming.
Looks like they had a great time!
