7 Deacons and The Pastor Got Saved

I grew up listening to music by somebody called Ray Stevens. It didn't dawn on me that my sons had never heard his particular style of music until today when I said, "Don't Look Ethel!" and they all wondered what in the world I was talking about.

My all time favorite song of his is one called "The Mississippi Squirrel." It basically epitomizes my upbringing in The Bible Belt. If you are not from the south, more to the point, if you are not from Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia or Southern Ohio, much of the humor of this song may slip by your senses. If you were raised there, you're gonna laugh...hard, because you know the people in this video. You will see their faces, remember their personalities and may even wish you had brought that squirrel to your church. LOL

Here's my blast from the past. Enjoy! :o)

As soon as I read the title of your post, that song started running through my head. ;) I love Ray Stevens!!!! My personal favorite is "It's Me Again, Margaret."

Oh my gosh! He's going to be in Paducah in May. I'm smelling a road trip.

My father-in-law has this song and I can still remember the first time I heard it. It is totally hilarious! I am going to send him the video, I don't know if he has ever seen that, I know I haven't! Thanks for sharing it.

I've always liked that song. Of course, I've enjoyed most of the works of Ray Stevens.
