HOMESCHOOL PROM...YEP, WE HAVE THEM TOO!

Kazz and a hand full of his homeschool friends went to the Homeschool Prom together last night.

It was held at an elite golf club, catered and had a DJ that they thought was great.

Kazz, Marissa, Jake and Eric are pictured. She was the lone girl in their crew, though she was actually escorted by her boyfriend Jake. (middle)

After the Prom the kids were laughing and talking and just very positive about the evening. Apparently ALL 4 of them danced with the
masses who attended. Even Marissa and Jake were switching dancing partners and having a great time.

I asked them how long it took for all the kids to get warmed up enough to actually get out there and dance to the music. They said, practically in unison...

"The first song came on and we all just went out and started
dancing."

I said,

"Oh you 4 started the thing off right then."

They said,

"No, everybody there got up and danced."

I LOVE it! I remember that our high school prom was a dud. It took forever for people to get out there and dance. The couples stuck together and the cliques were all...cliquey.

Not our homeschooling crew!
But you know, that's because they are so "unsocialized." tee hee

I hope they had a wonderful time! I never even thought of proms for home schooled kids! I'm glad that they had the chance to enjoy that milestone in their lives! Have a great weekend!

It looks like they had a great time. I've heard that the Homeschool Prom is very well done. I'm hoping Kalene will want to go next year. She isn't much for dresses these days. But that could always cheange in a year.

"Unsocialized"! LOL!!!!

Looks like they had a blast. and I agree, homeschooled kids are SO much more fun to have around when you want a fun time!

This is AWESOME! I never knew that they had homeschool proms. I'm not homeschooling, but I admire the moms that can! IF I still lived in Sacramento I'd be homeschooling, because there's no way I'd throw my son into that school system, but now we're in a little town and I've come to terms with it. Just knowing that there is a homeschool prom kinda makes me want to homeschool just so I could put one together!

I just found your blog on Socialspark and stopped by and I've really enjoyed reading it!

BTW.... it sounds like they had lots of fun at their prom... those were the days huh?

I wasn't homeschooled so I never even thought of them missing out on various events like the prom. What a great idea to have one for them!!
My prom was nothing spectacular. I went with my boyfriend at the time and my best friend and her date. My friend had the flu and was vomiting all night so I spent most of my time in the bathroom with her.
And to top it all off, I was always a big girl(almost 11 lbs at birth... My poor mom!) so none of the prom dresses fit me so I bought a bridesmaid dress and I remember not looking like everyone else. Oh well, at least those awful highschool days are over hahahah

We have a prom here too! My friends who don't homeschool are amazed! lol!!

I was talking to a friend who was getting her daughter ready for the prom (at our local middle school) and she was completely frantic trying to get the limo lined up, the PERFECT dress, the perfect date for her daughter...the perfect this and the perfect that...it was really nuts. She's calling me today to give me the details...I know that there was already strife between two of the girls going...sheesh...the drama! lol!! Seriously, I laugh, but at the same time, I'm so happy that my children aren't going through all of this stuff that "socialized" children go through! loL!!
