QUICK APRIL UPDATE: First Communions, Friends and Family

April has gone so quickly!  This Tuesday will be May 1st.  This is the month I will turn 42.  Wow.

Okay, on to the business of keeping our family scrapbook.

Jaibrian was invited to Molly T's 6th Birthday party at Kitty Deluxe in our neighborhood.  What a CUTE little house full of dainty girly, swirly, jewelry, pretty things and all things feminine.  I was totally out of my element there, but Jabrian was in her glory.

She had an absolute ball, wants to make it a regular visit and hopes that mommy will take her often. Heaven help me. I don't even wear a wedding band, let alone know how to make jewelry or pick accessories...BUT this may very well be one reason God gave me a daughter.  She will help me with these things.

Vinze had his first communion on April 15th.  Kazz and Becca came to witness the occasion. We celebrated afterward at Mongolian BBQ....Vinze's Favorite place to eat.

Daxx and Kole are 8 years old, so you know what that means in our home; they get to walk to neighborhood friend's homes and play.

They've been hanging out with Ben.  They build a fort out of stuff in his yard, borrowed my camera to take pictures of their fun and even let their little sister tag along.

Jaibrian had her monthly sleepover with Liza!  Daxx and Kole got to invite Liza's Brother, Simon, over for a sleepover that night also.

Can anyone say "Sibling Rivalry?"

Let's just say that having sibling sleepovers are like bed-time, chaos on crack.  There was much adieu about who's room had the coolest fort.  The Twins added lights to their bunk-bed, while Jai and Liza added a TV under her loft bed and padded their floor with multiple pillows and dolls.

Who Won?  Who knows.  They all think they had the coolest.

Kole took his first communion the week after Vinze.  (April 22nd)  Kazz and Becca arrived to witness his first communion too. It was a sunny day...as you can tell by the picture.

Poor kids.  They did their best to look at the camera that happened to be in direct sunlight.

Jaibrian got to pick what our family did for Family night this month.  She picked Home-Made Milk Shakes, Movie Night in the living room and Jetts Pizza!  I like her style!

Brisan was at a birthday sleepover...that's very unusual but we let it slide this time because Kazz and Becca couldn't make it either.  (sob)

At any rate, we watched The Sorcerer's Apprentice.  Most of us enjoyed the movie. Jaibrian, however, fell asleep in the first 20 minutes.

This is the first Eucharist class.

Aren't they precious?!

Kole was so proud to participate. I was so touched when I witnessed him take the Holy Eucharist.  He reached up HIGH to receive our Lord.

Later he told me that he reached up high because Father Jim has a balancing problem.

Kole, You are such a sweet, sweet person.

Kole chose to eat at the Golden Corral, where they have a chocolate fountain.  Oh baby...I wish I could have had the chocolate.  They did have fish and rice though, so at least mommy got to eat without glutenizing herself.

Thank you for thinking of me honey.

Please Please read this article titled "Dear Catholic Friend" I was raised catholic. I love Catholic people, most my family is catholic, but the church is just so contrary to the Bible and has a very dark history if you study it.I ask you in love to please read this whole article.

The Bible way to heaven
How the Bible says you get to heaven
God wants us to know for sure- *1John 5:13 -These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

* God Says That None Are Good - "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10

* God Says That All Are Sinners - Romans 3:23"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

* God Tells Us The Reason All Are Sinners -Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

* God Tells Us The Penalty For Sin is Going To Hell - Romans 6:23 -"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord "
Rev 20:14-And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

* God Tells Us Of His Concern For Sinners - Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

*You are not going to heaven by doing good works. Why would Jesus have die if we have to work our way to heaven?
Tts 3:5-Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Eph 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Isa 64:6 -But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

* God's Way Of Salvation Is Made Plain -Romans 10:9-10 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

The word "confess" means to agree with God that you are a sinner and that Jesus alone was your substitute in death on the cross.

To "believe in the thine heart" means to make a commitment of yourself to Christ as you hope for eternity.

*Salvation is trusting in Jesus only to take you to heaven not good works or anything else.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

*John 3:3-Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:7-Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
2 Corinthians 5:17-"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

*John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Good works and going to church are good things, but they do not take you to heaven. The Bible says the only way is to be "born again" Trusting and putting our faith in Jesus only. You must have a time and a place where you were born again.
Pray a prayer like this from your heart.

"Dear Lord, I am sorry for my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead for my sins. I want you to forgive me of all my sins and come into my heart and save me. I trust you NOW as my Savior. Amen."

Oh Jessi, Hurling Bible Verses at me is not going to help your cause. The Catholic Church were the priests preaching the gospels before the Bible was even compiled.

The Catholic Church compiled the Bible through their councils and was able to do so because Jesus Breathed the Holy Spirit within them.

Bible verses are meant to be read all together...as in...The Whole Bible.

Please do not talk to me about "The Dark History" of the Catholic Church. Jesus filled his cabinet with "dark" people. All of them had faults. They denied him, failed him and turned on Him over and over. Do you think that the faults of humans would be different in His Church on earth?

The puritans burned witches, The Baptists condoned Slavery.

The Church is made up of people who are not perfect. Your church is also made of people who are not perfect. The Catholic Church, however, is not one of the 44,000 Protestant churches that are rolling around in confusion. They hold fast to the teachings that were taught before the printing press was even made. They kept Christianity alive and it happened that way because Jesus meant it to.

My friend; How did Christians worship just after Jesus ascended into Heaven? I want to worship that way...and I do because I am Catholic.

Here's a snippet of information from History just after Jesus' Resurrection. In one of the first Christian texts, St. Justin the Martyr narrates how the Eucharist was celebrated during the ancient times.

(St. Justin the Martyr, Letter to Antoninus Pius, Emperor, 155 AD)
"And on the day called Sunday, all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, And the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. (San Justino) Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability, and the people assent, saying “Amen”; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given, and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons. And this food is called among us Εὐχαριστία [the Eucharist], of which no one is allowed to partake but the man who believes that the things which we teach are true, and who has been washed with the washing that is for the remission of sins, and unto regeneration, and who is so living as Christ has enjoined. For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these; but in like manner as Jesus Christ our Saviour, having been made flesh by the Word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh. For the apostles, in the memoirs composed by them, which are called Gospels, have thus delivered unto us what was enjoined upon them; that Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks, said, "This do in remembrance of Me, (Lk 22:19) this is My body;" and that, after the same manner, having taken the cup and given thanks, He said, "This is My blood;" and gave it to them alone. And we afterward continually remind each other of these things. And the wealthy among us help the needy; and we always keep together; and for all things wherewith we are supplied, we bless the Maker of all through His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit."

You also need to know that everything you have said is taught in the Catholic Church. We are not saved by works.

I believe you were not taught the Catholic Faith as it is, but maybe you've been taught the Faith as your family "thinks" it is.

Please read this.

I ask you to please read this. I did not hurl Bible verses at you. That is something I copied and pasted because I thought it was worded good in explaining the simple plan of salvation. When I was catholic I thought it sounded the same too, but it is not. My family did not teach me what they thought, I learned what catholic's believe from many catholic priest and what catholic doctrine will tell you. I attended caticisim class given by the church that does nothing but teach you catholic doctrine and they said the same stuff. I attended a catholic funereal where the priest explained to everyone that the person who died was going to heaven because she did a lot of good works and that is how we all get there. They do believe that and teach that. I think you would be hard pressed to find any priest that would say you don't get to heaven by taking communion and going to confession. If you do that's defiantly not the norm and would not be backed up by the pope. Those things are works and are no where in the Bible. Not sure what the writing was supposed to prove, but I only go by the word of God not men.
I am afraid you are very misinformed. Baptist are not protestant. They were the first church, and were around way before catholic's. They were first called Anna Baptist and then just Baptist. The Baptist church if you study your history, was NOT a break off of the Catholic church. We are not wondering around in confusion. We do not have man made doctrine like the catholic church. We go by the Bible and what it teaches, nothing else. Not confusing at all. The catholic church also did not conform the Bible. The king James Bible, the fist Bible, and was out way before the perverted NIV or other versions. The KJB came from the texas receptist. (meaning received text.) That came from the church of Antioch. The Catholics had the Alexandrian text which came from Egypt. Everyone knows Egypt was always looked at as the picture of sin in the Bible. The Alexandrian text was locked up in the Vatican for years and that is where all these other version come from, that are not the same and pervert the true word of God. http://jesus-is-savior.com/Bible/new_international_perversion.htm The fact that the Pope claims his words are the words of God is so anti Bible! That is no where in the Bible.

The Pope NEVER spoke of being "born-again." The Pope NEVER made any public profession of faith ALONE in Jesus Christ. On the contrary, Pope John Paul II placed his faith in the traditions and manmade doctrines of the Catholic religion. There is NOTHING in the King James Bible (or the Catholic Bible) about keeping the Seven Sacraments to get to heaven...nothing! There is NOTHING in the Word of God about the Immaculate Conception of Mary. (was added to catholic doctrine in 1950) There is NOTHING in the Bible about the Rosary or praying to God through Mary. There's NOTHING in the Bible about digesting Jesus' flesh and blood. Roman Catholics literally believe that they're eating Jesus. There is nothing in the Bible about priests being celibate. There is NOTHING in the Bible about purgatory. Matthew 23:9 outright forbids calling any priest "Father." So why do Catholics do it?...because they are being taught the commandments of men...
"He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition." -Mark 7:6-9)

Jessi said...

The Catholic church is based upon TRADITIONS and not upon the Bible. Even by twisting the Bible out of context, it's still impossible for Catholics to justify their ridiculous religion. For example: Exodus 20:4,5 commands us to never create any type of image to bow down to. Catholics bow to statues (images) of many different saints to worship God. This is idolatry. You simply CANNOT justify this type of wickedness with the Bible. God's Word clearly forbids us from bowing down to ANY graven image. Worse yet, every faithful Catholic prays to the "Mother Mary," bowing in worship. Though they claim that they are not worshipping Mary, they are violating the Bible by even bowing to her (and they certainly are worshipping her). To reverence and adore the "Mother Mary" is to commit idolatry. There is NOT one single verse in the entire Bible where Jesus told anyone to recognize Mary in any special way. Catholics use the reasoning that Mary was with Jesus all the time, which simply is NOT true, and there are no Scriptures to indicate such foolish conjecturing. Jesus was NO momma's boy. Why should we be led to believe by Catholics that Mary is more understanding than the very prophets who God used to author the Bible? What about Jesus' half brothers and sisters? It is dangerous to add things to the Bible that it does NOT teach. Any doctrine which cannot be supported with Biblical references is a manmade doctrine.

Obviously, Mary did NOT remain a virgin (so why do Catholics continually refer to her as such?). Mary was a hell-deserving sinner just like any afflicted person lying in the gutter on the street. Do I respect Mary?...yes, but no more than I respect any other godly woman. There is no Biblical record of Mary ever winning anyone to the Lord. Catherine Booth (wife of William Booth, who founded the Salvation Army) was an aggressive soul winner and speaker for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I respect her much more than Jesus' mother, only because I know that she was very active for the Lord. I'm sure Mary was a very friendly and sweet woman, but she was a sinner just like anyone else. Also, the absurd teaching of the Immaculate Conception of Mary is heresy straight from hell. Good luck trying to prove that from the Bible. Why are people so foolish as to trust their soul's destiny to the lying words of some priest?

Oh how blinded are the minds of most people, walking in darkness, they stumble and know it not. Jesus is the answer, not a religion! The Catholic religion is a lie, a road to destruction which has been cleverly paved with good intentions. Open your Bible and read it for yourself. Mary is NOT the co-redeemer!

I mean no harm or unkindness to anyone, but someone needs to speak the truth of God's Word. One billion people foolishly look to the Vatican in Rome for spiritual guidance, and not to the Word of God. The Vatican keeps adding NEW doctrines (for example: the false doctrine of the "Immaculate Conception of Mary" didn't exist until 1950). What will they add next? The Bible NEVER changes, nor has it changed from when it was first written. The King James Bible (not the "new" King James) has preserved the Words of God for this generation (Psalm 12:6-8). How could anyone be so gullible and foolish as to believe that God would leave His gospel in the hands of a bunch of homosexual pedophile priests? We're not talking just a few priests here, but hundreds! The Catholics' foolish (and unscriptural) practice of celibacy has created a whole religion of sex-perverts. By the way, Peter had a wife according to the Bible (Matthew 8:14). So why can the first Pope (according to Catholicism) have a wife but not the others? Catholicism is composed of manmade doctrines, not the commandments of God. Don't be fooled! Please don't go to hell because of false religion based upon lies, ceremonialism and formalism.

If you want to please God, then you MUST become a born-again believer in Christ Jesus and worship God in the TRUTH of God's Word.

The Bible never speaks of a place where one can go to be purified of his sin. Rather, it always speaks of a Person to whom we can go to be purified: Jesus Christ. God tells us that those who refuse to trust Christ to cleanse them from their sins are condemned:Whoever believes in Him avoids condemnation, but whoever does not believe is already condemned for not believing in the name of God's only Son (John 3:18). There are only two choices: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.(John 3:36 {KJV}; See also Revelation 20:15; Luke 16:19-31, especially verse 26). Anyone who accepts Christ is completely saved: There is no condemnation now for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Saying that there is no condemnation, certainly eliminates the flames of purgatory.

Another passage which clearly excludes the idea of purgatory is, …their sins and transgressions I will remember no more (Hebrews 10:17). If, as the Bible says, God no longer remembers the sins of those who are in Christ, He does not punish them for these sins. To do so would be saying that Christ had not made full payment for them and that God the Father still remembered them. (See also Romans 5:8-11; Hebrews 10:14-18; Psalm 103:12).

Anyone who does not believe that Christ has completely saved him, has not completely trusted Christ to save him. That is, he does not believe that Christ's sacrifice has paid for all of his sins, and thinks he must pay for some of them himself. However, we are saved when we stop trusting what we can do, and start trusting Christ to save us.

The idea that Christ's sacrifice is not sufficient to cleanse us from all of our sins would condemn a great sinner such as the thief who was crucified with Jesus to suffer a long time in purgatory if not for all eternity in hell! Instead, there was nothing left over that Christ's death on the Cross did not cover. When the thief placed his trust in Christ, Jesus said to him, I assure you: this day you will be with me in paradise (Luke 23:43).

If purgatory existed, and the mass helped people to get out, the rich would have a tremendous advantage by being able to pay for masses to shorten their suffering. The poor instead, would be left to the mercy of the occasional priest who might say an unpaid mass for them. One ex-priest wrote, "If we really believed that the mass would save people from the flames of purgatory, would we make them pay for it? I would even save a dog if I saw one in a fire, and I would never even think of asking to be paid!"

Purgatory was evidently a pagan idea. Virgil, the pagan Latin poet who lived 70 - 19 B.C. divided the departed souls into three different places in his writings: One for the good, one for the damned, and a third where the less bad could pay for their sins. Since the idea of purgatory existed outside of the church before it came into the church, it is probable that it was brought in by contact with pagans like Virgil. There was a great influx of non-Biblical ideas into the church around 300 A.D. when the Roman Emperor Constantine took many unsaved people in as members of the church.

In any event, there is no mention of purgatory in the Bible. Some would try, however, to make the idea sound somewhat Biblical by referring to 2 Maccabees 12:41-45, a passage in one of the apocryphal books written between the times of the Old and New Testaments. These books were never accepted as part of the Hebrew Old Testament, nor quoted in the New Testament, but they are included in the Catholic Bible, though usually with an explanation that they are of a less inspired category. Apart from this passage in 2 Maccabees, the apocrypha is little used by the Catholic church to support a doctrinal position.

Jessi said...

It is important to notice that this passage does not speak of purgatory at all, but actually condemns idolatry, particularly the practice of wearing little images on a necklace or such. Hebrew soldiers were found wearing this sort of thing after a battle, and their buddies, on making this discovery, realized that they had died in the sin of idolatry. They then counseled prayer for their souls. The Roman Catholic position is that prayer for them would have been unnecessary if they were in heaven and useless if they were in hell, so there must be another place. The logic seems good, but the result contradicts the clear teaching of the inspired Scripture. Contradicting inspired Scripture with a philosophical response based on an apparent inference from the Apocrypha is a very weak argument indeed. The very word "Apocrypha," which comes from the Greek word for hidden, has come to mean "false," or "of doubtful authorship.

Jessi,

Whoo You're on Fire for Christ! Good for you.

Okay, I can see the flaws in your arguments big time and they are many. I will have to take time to type all of it out, give me a little time to get it all composed, typed and ready. I'll probably end up blogging it so we can start a new thread.

I love the exchange of belief here. I can tell that you are not trying to "flame" this blog. You are well read and hopefully open to discussion.

I need to tell you that I am not trying to convert you to anything. I know that you believe I am going to hell but I don't believe that of you, so forgive me if I don't have the same "passion" in my responses to you. I'll post more later. :o)

Brendan said...

Jessie, you seem very confused and rather anti-Biblical.

For example:

On Purgatory, the Bible is clear: 1 Corinthians 3:15, we see: “If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.” So we have a man whose works have been judged. His works are, in fact, burned; and he suffers loss; yet he is saved, but by fire. He suffers loss, but is saved by fire.
The Greek word which is translated as “suffer loss” is zemiothesetai. It comes from the Greek word zemioo, which is punlishment or chastisement. We see the same word used in the Septuagent in Exodus 21:22 and Proverbs 17:26.

1 Corinthians, Chapter 3 is rich in Purgation theology.
1 Corinthians 3:12-13- “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.”

So we can see from Scripture that what we have done will be judged, our works tested by fire, what is good shall remain, and what is evil shall be purged from us. We shall suffer punishment\loss, but saved nonetheless. That is clearly Purgatory.

In addition, Christ Himself said in Matthew 5:26 Christ is condemning sin and speaks of liberation only after expiation. "Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny." Now we know that no last penny needs to be paid in Heaven and from Hell there is no liberation at all; hence the reference must apply to a third place.

Revelation 21:27 clearly teaches that nothing imperfect shall enter Heaven. I don’t know about you, but I am not perfect. I have failings and faults. I count on Purgatory so that I might be cleasend of these so that I can enter Heaven. How and when do you expect your imperfections to be purged from you, or do you hold that you will not enter Heaven

As to prayer to Mary and the Saints

That too is quite Biblical
First of all, we have a command from God in James 5:16 to pray for one another. James continues on to note that the prayer of a righteous achieves much. We know that those in Heaven, being in the sight of God, fulfill His commandments even more fully and willingly than we do here on Earth. So they can and do pray for us, and who are more righteous than the righteous in Heaven themselves.

In then becomes a case of simply asking them to intercede on our behalf to God.

Now we have to take a look at what the verb 'to pray' means. To treat, to implore, to humbly request.
It's root is the latin verb Precare - to implore.

We also see that in English.

Hamlet Act 1, Scene II
QUEEN: Let not thy mother lose her prayers, Hamlet:
I pray thee stay with us; go not to Wittenberg.
HAMLET: I shall in all my best obey you, madam.
No one would ever attempt to claim that Shakespeare is portraying Queen Gertrude as somehow worshipping Hamlet. Rather, her prayer is what every prayer is, a request, in this case, to her son Hamlet.

Likewise, we see that in the legal system. A legal brief to the court ends with the “Prayer for Relief”, in which the filing lawyer describes what they are ASKING the court to do.
So you deny that, you are in effect, claiming that the Holy Spirit did not inspire James, and that Christians are not allowed, nor permitted to pray for each other, or even to ask for prayers for another. Is that what you are really trying to claim?

Brothers of Christ

The Bible used the term ‘brother’ to describe any close relationship.

For example, St. Paul used it in his letter to the Galatians.

Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days. I saw none of the other apostles, save for James, the Lord’s brother.”- Gal 1:18-19

There were only two Apostles named 'James'; one was the son of Alphaeus, the other was the son of Zebedee.
James, the Son of Zebedee had already suffered martyrdom.
So that leaves us the James, the son of Alpheus.
Is it your opinion then, that Mary born James via an adulterous relationship??
In addition, Lot is called both Abraham’s brother ( Gen 14:14) and Abrahams’s nephew ( Gen 11:27 and Gen 12:5).

So yes, Christ has brothers, in the same way that James, son of Alpheus was the brother of the Lord, and Lot was the brother of Abraham.

As far as Mary’s perfection, your comments portray your lack of knowledge of Scripture. In Luke 1, the title given to Mary by the angel Gabriel was kecharitomene. That is the perfect, passive past participle of the root “Charoo” which means Grace. In Greek, the perfect tense notes the completeness of the action. The passive voice denotes that it was done unto her, that she did not Grace herself, and finally, that the task\action had already been accomplished.

This is a distinct state from how St. Paul used a similar word, , echaritosen, in Eph 1:6, which is indicative, activist of the same root “Charoo” when he describes how God graced His beloved. It is an active ( God is the one doing it, and it is borught to completeness at that time (as opposed to Mary, in which it was done in the past)

So, as the angel Gabriel noted, Mary was fully and completely and perfectly Graced, it was done unto her, she did not do it her self, and that the fullness of Grace had already been accomplished.

One other point, the word kecharitomene was used as the subject noun. As far as Gabriel was concerned “Full of Grace” was Mary’s name. That is what she was known to Gabriel as.
To the angels, that is her very name.

Jessi said...

Full of grace does not mean holy and without sin. The Bible says we are all saved by grace, we are not all perfect and never will be on earth.
The verses do not speak of Purgatory. Jesus said to the thief on the cross today you will be with me in paradise. He did not have to go to Purgatory. That verse proves nothing. You can't just assume that verse means that he went to Purgatory, that is absurd. I was going to wait until she posted a response to post this, but I will now I guess.

I would ask you to please view these links, you have to copy and paste them. They are very informative. If you do not read these you won't be seeing my whole side of the argument. I don't want to copy and paste everything when they are put together so well, and I can't copy the pictures. There is nothing I believe that is not backed up by scripture. If you are trying to prove to me the catholic religion is right by man made doctrines, then it means nothing. Catholic doctrine is so contrary to the Bible. I only go by the word of God, the BIBLE. 2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Historically Baptists Are Not Protestants

Protestants date from the sixteenth century. They are the Lutherans, the Reformed, and others who were once Roman Catholics and left the Roman Catholic faith to start denominations of their own. The Baptists never left the Roman Catholic church as did Luther, Calvin and Zwingli. They never left because they were never in. They did not begin their existence at the time of the Reformation, but hundreds of years prior to the Reformation.

Baptists make no effort to trace a historical succession back to the age of the Apesties. Their only claim is that at every age in church history there have been groups that have held to the same doctrines that Baptists hold today. These groups may or may not have been connected and they have been known by various names. There were the Montanists (150 A.D.), the Novatians (240 A.D.), Donatists (305 A.D.), Albigenses (1022 A.D.), Waldensians (1170 A.D.), and the name Anabaptists came into prominence just before the time of the Protestant Reformation. Full historical data immediately refutes the view that there was only one religious group -- the Roman Catholic church -until the time of Martin Luther. Anyone who claims this simply has not done his homework.

l wish to purposely introduce non-Baptist testimony to the great antiquity of Baptist people. Cardinal Hosius (1504-1579) was a Roman Catholic prelate who had as his life work the investigation and suppression of non-Catholic groups. By Pope Paul IV he was designated one of the three papal presidents of the famous Council of Trent. Hosius carried on vigorously the work of the counter-reformation. If anyone in post-reformation times knew the doctrines and history of nonCatholic groups, it was Hosius. Cardinal Hosius says, "Were it not that the Baptists have been grievously tormented and cut off with the knife during the past 1,200 years, they would swarm in greater number than all the Reformers" (Letters Apud Opera, pp.112, 113). Note carefully that this knowledgeable Catholic scholar has spoken of the vicious persecution Baptists have endured, that he clearly distinguishes them from the Reformers, and that he dates them 1,200 years before the Protestant Reformation.

It is also evident that the Baptists were not Protestants because they were fiercely persecuted by the Protestant Reformers and their followers. Uncounted thousands of them lost their goods, their lands, and their lives in these persecutions. Konred Grebel died in prison in 1526. Felix Manz was drowned by the authorities at Zurich in 1527. Noted Baptist leader Baithauser Hubmaier was burned alive at the stake in Vienna March 10, 1528. Three days later his wife was drowned by being thrown over the Danube bridge with a stone tied to her neck. The facts abundantly attest that historically Baptists are not Protestants.

Doctrinally Baptists Are Not Protestants

The viewpoint that Baptists share common doctrinal ground with Protestant groups is not an accurate reporting of the facts. There are six striking differences.

Baptists believe with all their hearts that God's Word alone is sufficient for faith and practice. We read "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine..." (II Timothy 3:16). Various Protestant denominations have creeds, catechisms and assorted doctrinal standards. Baptists hold to the Bible alone.

Baptists believe that Christ and only Christ is the Head of the Church even as the Scripture says, "Christ is the head of the church" (Ephesians 5:23). There is no man who has the oversight of Baptist churches. Baptists have no denomination in the sense of an organization that controls local congregations. Each local church is autonomous and accountable only to Christ, who is its Head. A Baptist church, while fellowshipping with congregations of like faith and practice, has no earthly headquarters. Its headquarters is in Heaven.

Baptists believe from their hearts in a free church in a free state. Christ plainly taught that the state and the church each had its own realm when he said, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things which are God's" (Matthew 22:21 ). Baptists are vigorously opposed to union of state and church and believe that a state controlled church is a wretched excuse for Christianity and a plain departure from Scripture. All of the Protestant Reformers fastened state churches upon their followers.

Baptists believe strongly in individual accountability to God because the Scriptures clearly teach that "every one of us shall give account of himself to God" (Romans 14:12). A priest cannot answer for you, a church cannot answer for you to God. God-parents cannot answer for you. No one is saved because of what his parents believe. No one is ,saved because of his identification with any religion. He will account for himself to God. Protestants .generally do not hold this scriptural doctrine.

Baptist people furthermore have always held to believers' baptism. None of the Protestant Reformers held this Bible teaching. In the Scriptures, faith and repentance always preceded baptism. On the day of Pentecost Peter plainly told the people, "Repent and be baptized" (Acts 2:38). This obviously means that there is no infant baptism since infants are incapable of repenting. No unbelievers are to be baptized. The Reformers followed Rome in their teaching on baptism. Baptists have held steadfastly to the doctrine of Christ and His Apostles on this point.

Jessi said...

Baptists, on the basis of Scripture, have always held to a regenerate church membership; that is, a membership that is made up only of people who give a credible profession of faith in Christ. In the apostolic church, only those who became believers, those who received the Word of God and who had repented of their sins, were baptized and received as church members (Acts 2:41). There was no automatic or formalistic membership in apostolic churches nor in Baptist churches today.

From the review of these simple points it is more than clear that doctrinally Baptists are not Protestants.

Practically Baptists Are Not Protestants

A few simple observations indicate that the Baptists differ radically from Protestants on a number of points.

The Protestant groups look to some human being as their founder, often even taking their name from a man. The Lutherans hark back to Luther. The Reformed look to John Calvin. The Presbyterians were rounded by John Knox. The Methodists openly acknowledge John Wesley as their founder. Who rounded the Baptist churches? Here is a historical question worthy of serious investigation. It is impossible to find any one man who gave rise to Baptist churches. Rather, if we would name human founders, we must look back to Peter, Paul, James and John.

We differ from Protestants in our birthplace. Lutherans came from Germany, the Reformed from Switzerland and the Netherlands, the Presbyterians from Scotland, Episcopalians from England, but Baptists would have to give Palestine as their place of origin.

Furthermore, the creed of Baptists is not the Augsburg Confession, the Canons of Dort, or the Westminster Confession, but the simple Word of God. So it is impossible to identify Baptists as Protestants.

Baptists have never been linked with Protestants and have never been identified with the Roman Catholic Church. Through the years before and after the Reformation, they have maintained their identity and been faithful to the Scriptures. Real Baptists hold to the plain teaching of Christ and the Apostles. For these God-given doctrines they have been willing to die. Hanz Denk, a sixteenth century Baptist, said, "Faith means obedience to the Word of God, whether it be unto life or unto death." For many it was death.

In Rottenburg in Reformation times there were 900 executions of Baptists in less than ten years. These deaths were often vicious and cruel. The sentence for one Baptist believer, Michael Sateler, read:

"Michael Sateler shall be delivered to the hangman, who shall take him to the place of execution and cut out his tongue; he shall then throw him on a cart and twice tare his flesh with hot tongs; then he shall bring him to the city gate and there torture his flesh in the same manner."

This was the way Sateler died in Rottenburg on May 21, 1527. His wife and other women were drowned and a number of the men were beheaded.

Baptists are not Protestants but hold tenaciously to the original precepts and practices of Christ and the apostles. Baptists believe the pure Word of God to be sufficient authority on all matters. Baptists reject all human religious traditions and practices that have originated since the time of the apostles.

There is NO bigger HOAX on planet earth than the Roman Catholic Church!
by David J. Stewart

Oh how I wish I could get people to wake up to the truth. I don't even call the Roman Catholic organization a "church"...it is a RELIGION of manmade traditions and lies of the devil. It certainly is NOT a Biblical New Testament church. Let me clarify right from the very start that I do NOT hate anyone.

I love the Pope and all Catholics just as I do all people (I really do). I love them with God's love. I love them enough to risk being unpopular by telling them the truth of God's Word. Though I may not like someone, I am still commanded in the Bible to love them. I have no intentions to be unkind to anyone, I simply want to preach the TRUTH of God's Word.

Undoubtedly, many people will be offended because the truth always offends those who are living in sin and darkness. Just as Jesus Christ my Saviour, I am more willing to be divided over truth than to be united by error.

I cannot compromise because the Bible does not compromise. God said what He meant and meant what He said. Many of the foundational doctrines of Roman Catholicism are NOT found anywhere in the Bible. It is evil to reject the plain teachings of Scripture in exchange for the traditions of men.

God Will Not Share His Glory

God will NOT share His glory with another (Isaiah 42:8). In Exodus 20:3-5 we read that God is a jealous God, so jealous that we are commanded NOT to even BOW to a statue or image.

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God" -Exodus 20:3

God is more jealous than any husband or wife could ever be. It is a dangerous thing to commit idolatry. It is a sin to bow to any saint. Roman Catholicism twists the Bible, actually condoning the idolatrous glorifying of dead people (saints). It is a sin to pray to anyone or anything in an attempt to influence God. There is ONLY One Mediator between God and men--The Lord Jesus Christ...

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" -1st Timothy 2:5

The ONLY Way to God the Father is through God the Son. John 14:6 declares...

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

To pray or even bow to any statue, image or crucifix is wicked sin. Jesus NEVER even once asked anyone to create an image of Him dying on a cross. The Catholic Church is infested with idols, crucifixes and superstitions.

It is wicked to pray or even BOW to "Mother Mary." Pope John Paul II is committing idolatry in the image to the left. Mary is NOT my mother, and she's NOT your mother either. Mary is NOT the "Queen of Heaven." Mary is NOT the mother of the church. Mary was just a godly woman chosen by God the Father to be the earthly mother of Jesus Christ, God incarnate. In heaven, Mary is no more special than any other godly woman who fears and loves God. It is wicked to teach that Mary was anything more than a godly woman.

John the Baptist was called the greatest man born amongst men (Mathew 11:11), yet Jesus said that he that is LEAST in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John. The same is true with Mary or anyone else. If it were not for God's merciful grace, we would all be hopelessly bound for hell damnation (and that includes Mary).

By the way, the teaching of Catholics that Mary was born without any "original sin" is absurd, she was born with a sinful nature just like any other human being. The Bible does NOT teach any nonsense about an "Immaculate Conception" or anything about "original sin." The word "original" is not even found in the Bible.

To Hail Mary is to Hail Satan! Mary is NOT a co-redeemer with Jesus.

Can The Catholics Ever Make Up Their Minds?

The Catholic crowd likes to do the same thing as the Wiccan witches do...claim that all Christians are ignorant of history. How convenient that so many heathen groups can claim legitimacy and trustworthiness based upon ambiguous history. If anything, history reveals that the Catholic religion is composed today of a series of invented heresies from over the centuries.

What will be the next invention? The Roman Church says it never changes; yet, it has done nothing else but invent new doctrines which are contrary to the Bible, and has practiced rites and ceremonies taken bodily from paganism. Some scholar has found that 75% of the rites and ceremonies of the Roman Church are of pagan origin.

Note:-- Cardinal Newman, in his book, "The Development of the Christian Religion," admits that ... "Temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, holidays and season of devotions, processions, blessing of fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests and monks and nuns), images ... are all of pagan origin..." (Page 359).

HERESIES are those doctrines and practices which are contrary to the Bible. They are also called "human traditions" or "doctrines of men". Both Peter and Paul predicted and warned that in the later times "false teachers" would rise within the Church and bring in "damnable heresies" and "doctrines of devils". (Read II Peter 2:1-3, and I Tim. 3:2-5). Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, for they transgressed the commandments of God by keeping their traditions. "in vain," He said, "they worship me by keeping for doctrines the commandments of men" (Matt. 15:3,9).

The real heretics therefore, are the Roman Catholics and the true orthodox are the Evangelical Christians.

BRETHREN! The Word of God commands us to get out of Babylon, saying: "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Rev. 18:4). All true Christians will remain faithful to the religion of Christ as taught in the Bible, and heed the warning of the Apostle Paul, who said: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Gal. 1:8).

Roman Catholicism openly admits that many of their doctrines did NOT originate from the Bible, but from the church itself. It is blasphemy to recognize the writings of the church fathers as inspired by God. For example, in 1834, the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was proclaimed by Pope Pius IX. The Bible states that all men, with the sole exception of Christ, are sinners.

Mary herself had need of a Saviour (Romans 3:23; 5:12; Psalm 51:5; Luke 1:30,46,47). In 1439, the doctrine of Purgatory was proclaimed as a dogma of faith by Council of Florence. The Bible says that Christ instituted only two ordinances, Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Matthew 28:19-20; 26:26-28). Read more!

The Catholic heresy of the "Assumption of Mary" isn't found in the Bible or even in their own magisterium.

Roman Catholics Reject the Commandments of God

Matthew 23:9 forbids calling any man "Father" in the sense of reverence...

"And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven." -Matthew 23:9

Catholics disobey the Bible by calling the priest "Father." Only God is to be reverenced by such a title. The Pope is NOT the "vicar" of God, but is rather a false prophet of Satan.

1st Timothy 4:1-3 warns...

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."

Are Catholics blind? Or perhaps Catholics just don't read the Bible. 1st Timothy 4:1-3 clearly WARNS us about cults that forbid people to eat meat (every Friday for Catholics) or get married (Catholic celibacy laws that forbid priests from getting married).

I recently listened to a Catholic priest on TV speaking to his parish. He told the people that the best way to know what's right on all matters of faith and morals is to just "listen to the Pope." What a contrast to the teachings of the Word of God. The Bible declares...

"...let God be true, but every man a liar..." -Romans 3:4

Peter Was NOT The Rock Upon Which the Church is Built

The Catholic religion teaches that Jesus chose the Apostle Peter as the "rock" upon which Christ would build the Church. Matthew 16:18 reads "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." A simple cross reference of Matthew 16:18 with 1st Peter 2:7 reveals the true context, "Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner."

JESUS is the cornerstone upon which the Church is built. Even today, architects and builders realize that to build ANY structure, you MUST have a very accurate starting point upon which everything else can be built. Jesus is that Precious and Perfect cornerstone upon which everything in the Christian life is based. Surely, a flawed sinful man such as Peter could NOT have been the cornerstone of the church.

In Matthew 16:23, just five verses after Jesus spoke of the "rock," he called Peter "Satan." There's no way Jesus was referring to Peter as the "rock" in Matthew 16:18. Jesus Christ is the ONLY Rock upon which the Church is built..."For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1st Corinthians 3:11).

Rosary From Hell

The Catholics teach that the rosary should be performed every day. I'd like to have ANYONE show me that from the Bible. Where did God tell us to perform a rosary? The Rosary, or prayer beads, was introduced by Peter the Hermit, in the year 1090...copied from Hindus and Mohammedans. The counting of prayers is a pagan practice and is expressly condemned by Christ (Matthew 6:5-13). The rosary should NEVER be performed by anyone, it is sinful. Jesus condemned chants and recited prayers...

"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking." —Matthew 6:7

I listened to a bunch of nuns chanting today on the EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) cable channel. It's a cable channel just for Catholics, also used to brainwash children with Catholic heresies. Those nuns in their penguin outfits looked so silly. It was all vain repetitions. They were just moaning, repeating the words of the head nun (the kind of nun that looked like she'd hit you with a ruler). It was so dead and formal, no life and joy of the Lord. I couldn't help but feel sorry for those blinded people, carrying heavy religious burdens, grievous to be borne...

"For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers." —Matthew 23:4

Jesus offers restful salvation to anyone who will receive it. Salvation is simple. God doesn't require us to perform sacraments or give our lives to the Catholic Church. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is within our hearts, not in temples or extravagant buildings made by men. God is a Spirit and they that worship Him MUST worship Him in Spirit and in TRUTH (John 4:24). You CANNOT worship God in heresy or tradition.

Jesus offers us rest from the heavy burdens placed upon us by the religions of mankind. Religion is a sure road to hell, ONLY through Christ Jesus can anyone be forgiven and their name written in heaven.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." -Matthew 11:28

Salvation is found in Christ alone --NOT by baptism, NOT by the sacraments, NOT by church membership, NOT by good works, NOT by praying the rosary, NOT by sacrificing, NOT by religion, NOT by mass, NOT by the Pope, NOT by the priest...ONLY by Jesus Christ.

The Fiction of Fatima (the Hoax of Our Lady of Fatima)
Devotion to Mary is Unscriptural

The following excellent article was written by a former devout Roman Catholic (Tony Capoccia) concerning the unscriptural following of Mary:

"No one who has carefully examined the events of and surrounding Fatima could possibly share your opinion of the Blessed Mother.

I was a Catholic for 34 years. I was a great devoted follower of Mary. But after I became a Christian, I went to four years of seminary and made it a point to carefully study the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. I compared their doctrines to the truths of the Bible, and they (the Catholic Church) are without a doubt full of false doctrines, and therefore a false religion.

Mary was a wonderful person, and blessed, but she, like every other human was a sinner, before and after the birth of Christ. So was Joseph, and the Apostles. The Bible says "all" have sinned, there is not one who does good, no not one! Mary was a sinner and needed a Savior. The lie of the Catholic doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, is that Mary (just like Jesus) was born without sin. But this is a direct contradiction to the Bible.

The Catholic Church also claims that Mary, was a perpetual virgin all of her life. Yet the Bible says this is simply not true, for Mary was a virgin until Jesus was born, and then had normal sexual relations with her husband Joseph, and had other children, see Matthew 1:23-25:

"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" - which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her "until" she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. [Matthew 1:23-25]

The Catholic Church dishonors Mary by giving her honor God never intended.

There was an incident when Jesus' mother and "brothers" (Mary's children), went to get Jesus: "When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." [Mark 3:21]

"Someone told Jesus, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.' He replied to him, 'Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?' Pointing to his disciples, Jesus said, 'Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.'" [Matthew 12:47-50]

The point Jesus was making is that Mary, his earthly mother, had no special position or honor over any other Christian who does God's will. Mary is blessed, as was the Apostles, they were used by God in a special way, but she was never to be worshipped and elevated as the Catholics do--this is a dishonor to her and to Christ. Mary is in heaven and doesn't have clue what we are doing here and could care less, she is focused on Jesus her Lord and Savior. The prayers of Catholics to Mary and the other saints are an abomination and a stench in the nostrils of God, for, "there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." [1 Timothy 2:5]

See that, only one mediator! Mary is not a mediator, she can't hear us nor intervene in any way.

You are caught up in a great deception, and will someday pay a tremendous price of eternal suffering in the Lake of Fire unless you bow down to Jesus, and Jesus alone, repenting of your sins, confessing belief in who Jesus claimed to be: God, the "ONLY" mediator, the only way of salvation, and then submitting to His Word and will.

Also, Fatima is a lie straight from the pit. Satan stages false healings, or removes his crippling effects at the right time to give "Our Lady of Fatima" the credit, in order to keep the people duped. It is like a bunch of pagans bowing down and praying to a rock. If the rock never answered a prayer, then in time they would throw the rock away, but if "once in a while" the rock would do something for them, then they will keep praying to the rock. Fatima is the Catholic rock, a plaster statue, that Satan uses once in a while to fake a healing to keep the Catholics deceived and it seems to be working." -Tony Capoccia (former devout Roman Catholic for 34 years).

Catholicism is Straight From the Pits of Hell

Catholicism is of the devil, no doubt about it. I say this from a Biblical perspective. You cannot argue with me unless you have already reject the Bible. The traditions of the Catholic Church are NOT inspired. Nearly every cult in the world claims inspiration to some writings written by heretics. The Seventh Day Adventists teach that the writings of Ellen G. White are inspired. So also do Mormons claim inspiration to the Book of Mormon. Don't be deceived my friend, the ONLY God-breathed Book on this planet is the Bible (which I believe to be the preserved 1611 King James Bible). Satan wants to deceive you, he has already deceived the masses...

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world" -Revelation 12:9

Upon the death of Pope John Paul II, the world came together in unity to praise the departed Catholic idol. The Bible clearly teaches that the world loves it's own...

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." -John 15:19

I am hated because I am not of the world, I am against the world (James 4:4). Roman Catholicism is of the world, devilish in it's doctrines. I am on God's side, exposing the lies and the heresies. The Bible teaches that Satan is deceiving the masses of the world. Please do not allow the Catholic religion to lead you into hell. Don't be deceived by the Catholic priest's familiar use of Biblical terms and lingo, you are being LIED TO! The Bible doesn't teach many of the teachings that the Catholic Church propagates. Do your homework! Read your Bible! Pray to the Holy Spirit directly and ask God to guide you into all truth.

The dark history of the Catholic church.

August 24, 1572, was the date of the infamous St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre in France. On that day, over 400 years ago, began one of the most horrifying holocausts in history. French Roman Catholic soldiers and the Roman Catholic clergy fell upon the unarmed people, and blood flowed like a river throughout the entire country. Men, women, and children fell in heaps before the mobs and the bloodthirsty troops. In one week, almost 100,100 Bible believers, and others who rejected the Vatican's heresies, perished. The rivers of France were so filled with corpses that for many months no fish were eaten. When news of the Massacre reached the Vatican there was jubilation! Cannons roared - bells rung - and a special commemorative medal was struck - to honor the occasion! The Pope commissioned the painting of a mural to celebrate the Massacre - which still hangs in the Vatican today!

We have the Bible today because of Christians, Catholics would have destroyed all of them if they had their way.

Practically all precepts of the Roman Catholic religion contradict the Bible repeatedly. It is the largest cult in the world and most preachers will not openly say so because it is so large. For Catholics who read this, please remember this: the person that tells you the truth is the one that cares.

For a glimpse of the atrocities committed by the Roman Catholic religion, do a net search on the Inquisition or the Crusades. During the Inquisition, the Catholic religion killed millions. Why? Primarily to suppress any and all opposition to the pope. Side "benefits" included taking the material wealth of its victims and showing the pope's power. The Catholic Inquisitors tortured, crippled, burned, and imprisoned millions of people. Whatever happened to love your enemies? (Matthew 5:44)

Before we get to specific problems with Catholic doctrine, let's review how this bloodthirsty organization treated a man who simply wanted to get the Bible into the hands of the common people. In the late 1300s John Wycliffe translated the scriptures from the Latin Vulgate. Some 40 odd years after his death, the Catholic religion dug up his bones and burned them calling him an arch-heretick. In the 1500's William Tyndale sought to translate the Bible into the language of the common people, English. He could not gain approval from the Catholic religion so he worked as an outlaw on the run in Europe, translating the Bible. He was eventually captured, condemned and executed in 1536. It is because of people like these men, Tyndale and Wycliffe, that we have the scriptures today. If the Catholic religion had its way, we'd still be in ignorance about the Bible and enslaved to the pope. Time fails me here to tell of other martyrs like John Hus, John Rogers, etc. who were killed by popish persons.

I'll list the catholic tradition first and then what the Bible has to say about the matter.

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Call priests father, e.g., Father McKinley.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS -

Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Forbidding the priesthood to marry.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS -

1) It is devilish to forbid God's people to marry when He has given marriage to be received with thanksgiving.

1 Timothy
4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

2) Peter was married (remember the pope is supposedly continuing the apostolic line through Peter).

Matthew
8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

Mark
1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.

Luke
4:38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

3) Paul, a great apostle, remained single; however he made it very clear that he could marry if he wanted to.

1 Corinthians
9:5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary never had other children after the Lord Jesus. A perpetual virgin.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary and Joseph indeed had children. They were the Lord's half brothers and sisters for their father was Joseph and mother was Mary.

Matthew
13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

Mark
6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the queen of heaven.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Worshipping the queen of heaven (which is not the Mary of the Bible) is worshipping another god and it provokes the Lord to anger.

Jeremiah
7:17 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

Jessi said...

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the mother of God.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary is the mother of the earthly Jesus, not God. Jesus pre- existed from everlasting as God (see John 1:1). When He came to redeem mankind, He laid aside His glory and was made like unto sinful man so that He could take our punishment (Hebrew 2:9). God has no mother. He has lived from everlasting which means He had no beginning.

Isaiah
43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. [If Mary gave birth to God, she'd be God.]

Psalm
93:2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

Micah
5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler [Jesus] in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Philippians
2:6 Who [Jesus], being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Pope called Holy Father.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - The term Holy Father is only found one time in the entire Bible. It was when Jesus prayed before He and His disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane. He referred to God the Father as Holy Father. It is blasphemy to call a man by God's name

John
17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Purgatory, nuns, popes.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - None of these is mentioned in the Bible. It is a sin to add to the Bible.

Proverbs
30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

The pope is a man who takes upon himself honor which belongs to no human being. Even the very name by which he allows himself to be called (Holy Father) is highly presumptuous and blasphemous (see above).

One does not need the pope to determine what God's will is. The Bible says that God has given the Holy Ghost to each believer and that He (the Holy Ghost) guides and leads us into all truth. All a believer needs is the Bible and the Holy Ghost to know the will of the Lord. Popery has been treacherous, but worse, each pope has been the blind leading the blind. Jesus said that both will fall into the ditch. Catholics, come out of this system that cannot save and know Jesus for youself, intimate and up-close.

NOTE: Purgatory is supposedly a place where a person is purified of sins--even popes supposedly go there. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the one that purifies us of our sins. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.... When a person dies their eternal home is sealed--heaven or hell--no in between. Hebrews 9:27 ...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Venerating/worshipping images. Pope bows to statues of Mary, people worship the eucharist and have statues/candles in their homes and churches.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - It is idolatry to venerate images. We are not even supposed to make them.

Exodus
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God...

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - The mass. Through transubstantiation, the wafer/host and the wine supposedly become the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ when the priest prays over them.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus died once for sins, never to be repeated. He sits on the right hand of God and does not reappear in the mass as a mass of blood and flesh.

Hebrews
10:12 But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

John
19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

1 Corinthians
11:24 And when he [Jesus] had given thanks, he brake it [bread], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come (not for the forgiveness of sins or to receive Jesus).

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Saved, in part, by good works.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Good works are the fruits that grow out of being saved. They do not make you saved. An apple does not make its tree an apple tree, it was already an apple tree before any apples appeared. When you see the apples; however, you know what kind of tree it is. If a person is saved, he will shew forth good works because he has the spirit of Christ in him. The good works don't make him saved only the blood of Jesus can do that.

I John
1:7b ...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Acts 16:31b
...believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

Romans
3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Jessi said...

What about James 2:20 "faith without works is dead"?

The kind of faith that saves is a faith that shows forth the works of God. Even devils believe in Jesus and tremble (James 2:19). Many people believe in Jesus but they won't follow Him. They have a faith, but not the kind that saves. If a person has true faith in Jesus, the Holy Ghost dwells in him and will cause good works will show forth in his life. The good works confirm the faith by which the person was saved. James 2:21-23 uses Abraham as an example. Abraham believed God so when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham, out of his faith in God, offered up Isaac.

CATHOLIC TRADITION - The church is founded on Peter.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus Christ is the foundation of the church. Peter was a man like you and me. Jesus called Peter Satan in Matthew 16:23 when Peter rebuked Jesus dying. When Cornelius tried to worship Peter, Peter responded, "Stand up; I myself also am a man." (Acts 10:26). The pope needs to remember Acts 10:26 when he has men bowing to him and kissing his hand like he is worthy of worship.

1 Corinthians
3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Matthew
21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected [Jesus], the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Confessing sins to a priest. Petitioning saints and Mary.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - We are to confess our sins and needs to God alone.

I John
1:9 If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Matthew
6:9, 12 After this manner...pray ye: Our Father... forgive us....

1 Timothy
2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus [not Mary, not saints, not priests, not the pope];

I John 2:1, ...And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

* * * *

There are many other scriptures that could have been used here to testify against the doctrines of the catholic religion. There are also many other doctrines of the catholic religion which could have been refuted (e.g. the sacraments, receiving the Holy Ghost, salvation through the catholic religion, penance, rosary, etc.).

* * * *

The Catholic religion has a history of taking the money of poor widows in order to say masses for the dead (which do no good) and collecting the material possessions of nuns. In Italy, the heart of Roman Catholicism, there is an often used saying that goes, "Without money, they don't sing the mass." That is really pitiful on several fronts: (1) mass is blasphemous and people who trust in it are hell-bound (2) there's no such thing as purgatory and (3) the gift of God is without price.

Roman Catholicism today is probably the wealthiest government in the world. It owns a good share of America's hospitals and has healthy real estate interests. The bottom line is, if you want to get right with God, you have to go through His Son, Jesus Christ, not some religious organization. Prayerfully.

Brendan said...

Jessie, you say we are saved by Grace, that is fully and completely correct. But I have shown how Gabriel described Mary as being filled, fully and completely already with Grace, the very thing that Saves.

As far as the theif, yes, I belive that he too underwent prugation. It is a process beyond time. The Church also holds that the prugation can occur temporally, that the punishment (the zemoo, to use the Greek) occurs with the willing acceptance of temporal punishhemt. The cruxifition for his crimes certainly qualifies.

Brendan said...

Oh, and I am glad that you have such a high respect for the Church in Antioch. After, the bishop that Peter appointed in Antioch to succeed him wrote extensively about the Eucharist.

St. Ignatius of Antioch wrote
Take note of those who hold heretical opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God. They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes. — Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2–7:1
Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful to baptize or give communion without the consent of the bishop. On the other hand, whatever has his approval is pleasing to God. Thus, whatever is done will be safe and valid. — Letter to the Smyrnaeans 8,

Now the really interesting thing about Ignatius was not only was he made a bishop by St. Peter himself, but that he was a student of St. John. So he had both the Gospel of John, but also the direct instruction by St. John himself on what the passages of John 6 mean, and what the Last Supper entailed. Is that something that you can claim? And if not, why should we trust your word on the literality of the Bread of Life discourse vs that of an actual student of St. John himself.

And Ignatius was not alone in describing the Eucharist as such. St. Justin Martyr wrote to the Roman Emperor in AD 144. He was asked by the Church to write letters in an attempt to explain (apologia in Greek) what the Christian Church believes. This was at the beginning of the various Christian persecutions, and the bishops of the Church felt that if the Emperor understood the teachings of the Church, they would be more tolerant. Justin was killed for affrontery of attempting to convert the Emperor.
Here is what St. Justin wrote about the Eucharist
“No one may share the Eucharist with us unless he believes that what we teach is true, unless he is washed in the regenerating waters of baptism for the remission of his sins, and unless he lives in accordance with the principles given us by Christ.
We do not consume the eucharistic bread and wine as if it were ordinary food and drink, for we have been taught that as Jesus Christ our Saviour became a man of flesh and blood by the power of the Word of God, so also the food that our flesh and blood assimilates for its nourishment becomes the flesh and blood of the incarnate Jesus by the power of his own words contained in the prayer of thanksgiving.”

So that is the teachings of the Early Church, as understood by those who lived and were taught by the Apostles themselves. Once again, I ask you, why should your view on the nature of the Eucharist be more authoritative of those who not only had the Scriptures, but were instructed by those who penned the Scriptures, who lived and walked and worked with Christ Himself?

Brendan said...

Jessie, if you disagree that the passages do not confirm Purgatory, what suffering and loss do the saved experience. Do you believe that the saved experience loss in Heaven? if not, where does this testing by fire occur?

Chapter and verse for this statement you made- "The Church also holds that the prugation can occur temporally, that the punishment (the zemoo, to use the Greek) occurs with the willing acceptance of temporal punishhemt. The cruxifition for his crimes certainly qualifies." At least you admitted the church believes that. That is not in the Bible.
Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.

Jessi said...

We do not have to suffer Jesus paid it all. Why did he die if we still have to suffer? We are covered by Jesus blood. Jesus said :It is finished!" We are still judged and held accountable for our sin but do not have to suffer hell for it. We will get less rewards in heaven and on earth we "reap what we sew" like the Bible says.
Please read through this as I read all of your stuff. If you read it it explains in much detail.

Jessi said...

When we die all our works will be tested by fire. What we do on earth, what we have done for Christ, will count for something in heaven, if not it means we wasted our life for Christ and we have much less in heaven and will feel very ashamed.

Brendan said...

Jessie, you said "In Matthew 16:23, just five verses after Jesus spoke of the "rock," he called Peter "Satan." There's no way Jesus was referring to Peter as the "rock" in Matthew 16:18. "

That is pattently incorrect. Greek , like Latin, declines the case to match the subject. The pronoun Christ used in talkign with Peter was the second person singluar and matched the case to the noun petra. In addition, if the Rock Christ was referring to was not Peter, then why did Christ change his name to Cephas, with is Aramaic for ROCK.

You also might want to look at WHERE Christ changed Simon's name to Peter, In Caesarea Philippi. That location was outside of Palestine, in pagan Greek Syria. It was a full day's walk just to get there. Caesarea Philippi was know for two things, one a major greek temple dedicated to the god Pan. As part of that was a large 'bottomless' pit that sacrafices to Pan were throw, ie the pit of hell. Secondly, the whole temple was carved into a huge cliff escarpment. In other words, Christ gave his whole discourse near the pagan pit of hell and with a rock cliff as a backgroud. A cliff that contained the temple of a false god of shepherds, telling Peter that he will be the Rock on which the Church of the Good Shepherd will be built.

Really Jesse, you need to do a lot more of your own research. You cut and paste other peoples work, with out the true understanding of the Scriptures. I find a lot of the Samaratan woman in your posts ( John 4)

We will feel ashamed in Heaven. How does that not contradict Rev 21 where nothing imperfect will enter Heaven. SO the righteous will spend all eternity feeling shame? Is that really what Baptists believe?

Re: Tyndale"

King James, the 'publisher' of the version of the Bible you hold so dear, also condemned the Tyndale Bible and several other prior versions for being false and misleading. So if it was OK for James to find error in people reading the Tynsdale Bible, why not the Church.

Remember the Douay-Rheims English bible was published prior to the KJV, and there were already vernacular Bibles published, with Church approval, in Italian, French and German. The issue was not vernacular Bibles, but that English is such an imprecise language that it makes for a lot of faulty interpretations. In fact it still does today. The Jehovah Witnesses use a Recieved Text bible and use it to deny the very divinity of Christ. The large majority of Christian denominations orginate from English speaking countries. That is why I make it a point to understand, to the best extent I can, the meaning of the orgininal Greek. Greek and Latin, with their wealth of cases, tenses, voices and declinations, are FAR more clear on what is being said about whom. :)

Jessi said...

I will have to type up my response. As I think your research is way off and might be influenced by the catholic church that makes a lot up. That will take time and I will post later. I hope you read everything, as you haven't comments on most of what I posted.

Sorry I didn't mean to say we would feel ashamed in Heaven I meant the judgement seat of Christ.
You didn't answer why we have to suffer if Jesus already died on the cross?
Why do we also have to make him die all over again at mass every Sunday?
Where in the Bible does it say a priest can turn bread and wine into his body and blood?
Why is fermented wine used to represent his pure sinnless blood? The Bible doesn't talk good of wine -
Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Jessi said...

There were two different wines in the bible grape juice, and fermented wine. That's why the term new wine is used sometimes in the Bible.

Jessi said...

Yes I do copy and paste a lot, why would I just retype it and take hours just saying the same thing. Everyone get their research from "other peoples work" We were not around in the Bible days.

Jessi said...

Another question I thought of real quick. Where in the Bible are nun? The Bible is clear on the woman's role.

1Ti 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

What do you think of this verse that clearly is talking about what catholic's believe

1Ti 4:1 ¶ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

ok that's all for now.

Brendan said...

"There were two different wines in the bible grape juice, and fermented wine. That's why the term new wine is used sometimes in the Bible. "

Nope, new wine is fermented wine with the yeast still active. It still produces carbon dioxide. Old wine is that where the fermentation has ceased. "Grape Juice" did not exist except as fresh pressed. Without the yeast and fermentation, it becomes vinegar. The only way to keep grape juice as anything other than wine or vinegar is by pasturization, a process first applied by Wlech (of grape juice fame) in the 19th century.

But in either case, new and old wine are both wine, that is yeast fermented and alcoholic.

Brendan said...

On nuns. that is clear enough from St. Paul 1:Cor 7:32

There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

Do you consider it wrong for a woman to dedicate her life to being concerned with the things of the Lord?

Brendan said...

No one forbids a man or woman from marrying. They undertake a choice of celebacy of their own free will, and in accord with the teachings of Christ and of St. Paul

In 1 Cor 7, St. Paul recommends celebacy for all those who can accept it. It seems that you would council AGAINST St. Paul in this matter, and force everyone into marriage regardless of their ability to accept celebacy and concern themselves with the Lords. Sorry Jesse, once again, you are the non Biblical one here.

Do you read the teachings of the Bible at all? Because if you did, you would already be aware of what St. Paul teaches in the regard.

And that of Christ in Matthew 19:12, where He councils the same thing as St. Paul, that if one can accept the celebate life, one should.

Brendan said...

"You didn't answer why we have to suffer if Jesus already died on the cross? "

St. Paul answers that - Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, that is, the Church (Col 1:24).

"Why do we also have to make him die all over again at mass every Sunday?"

We don't, we are united to the same death at every Mass. That is what Christ said when He used the word "Anamnesis" in the Gospel of John "Do this in remembrence (anamnasin)of Me" The word is that of a memorial sacrifice or offering, it is the same word used in Heb 10:3). So the command of Christ was not only to 'remember' Him but to make present the Last Supper as a sacrifice.

Once again, I challenge you to become more familar with the Greek used in Scripture. It will enlighten your understanding of what is meant by the words.

Where in the Bible does it say a priest can turn bread and wine into his body and blood?

-See above, it was a command of Christ at the Last Supper to do so.

And, as I pointed out, it was also the understanding of the Early Church, by those to whom St. John himself taught to be priests.

Hello Jessi... you clearly seem to have a great zeal for evangelization, but you've made a number of troubling statements. Brendan has posted a number of excellent responses, and others have attempted to dispel your strange version of Bible history, so I'll be brief.

You said, "I will have to type up my response. As I think your research is way off and might be influenced by the catholic church that makes a lot up."

I'm gathering from this and a number of other responses that you and your church are Landmarkists, who believe that the earliest church held to the same theology as modern-day Baptists (as documented in the book debunked by nearly every other non-Catholic denomination, "The Trail of Blood"). You have a very convenient means of rejecting every bit of evidence offered by Catholics, because you simply reject all of history before your denomination came into existence. It's a sadly anti-intellectual and all too common approach to apologetics, and it makes your job so much easier than it would be if you actually had to interact with the material presented. It's convenient because you can say, as I've heard too many times to count, that Catholics suppressed the "true Christians" and hid the evidence from an unsuspecting and illiterate public, despite the evidence to the contrary (including the fact that the scriptures were preserved by the efforts of men and women cloistered in Catholic monasteries).

Jessi, where did we get the Bible? What did the entirety of Christendom do between the death of the last apostle and the publishing of the King James Bible in the early 17th century? Indeed, the canon of scripture was considered at the Synod of Rome, 382 AD; Council of Hippo, 393 AD; and Council of Carthage, 397 AD. Anyone holding to the errant doctrine of sola scriptura would have to accept the proposition that the church was without its only standard of faith, morals and practice for nearly 4 centuries.

Further, the canon of scripture was addressed at the Councils of Florence (1441 AD) and Trent (1546 AD), both of which predate the publication of the King James Version. And the Catholic Douay-Rheims, also an English-language translation, was completed in 1610 (the New Testament in 1582).

Too, the men who translated the scriptures you know and revere as the King James Version were associated with the Church of England - a Protestant church with a hierarchy of clergy, a sacred liturgy including a eucharistic celebration they regard as the Real Presence of Christ, and all manner of other theology that's quite different from that of yourself and other Landmarkists. Why do you accept the decisions of those who translated the King James Bible when they hold to such radically un-Baptist theology?

Jessi said...

I will put together a comment on history, but just going straight from the Bible, the catholic religion is so contrary to the Bible.
On Mary
You base all of it on the Bible saying she was :full of grace" Not the strongest augment. You can twist verses to mean what you want, but I can give you verses that prove she is a sinner like you and me.
Luk 1:46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
Luk 1:47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Now if Mary was without sin, why did she need a Savior? Only sinners need a Savior, because if she was sinless she could enter heaven on her own.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Jesus is God he does NOT fall under all, Mary is not God she DOES fall under all.

Why was the catholic doctrine of Mary changed in 1950?

John the Baptist was called the greatest man born amongst men (Mathew 11:11), yet Jesus said that he that is LEAST in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John. The same is true with Mary or anyone else. If it were not for God's merciful grace, we would all be hopelessly bound for hell damnation (and that includes Mary).

Jessi said...

"No one forbids a man or woman from marrying. They undertake a choice of celebacy of their own free will, and in accord with the teachings of Christ and of St. Paul"
Yes they do, they may know that's the rule when they go into it, but the church forbids priest and nuns from getting married.

You didn't answer about the abstaining from meats part of that verse, lent? That is no where in the Bible. The "church" decided that people shouldn't eat meat on Fridays. Another doctrine that has changed a bit over the years also on how long you should not eat meant on Fridays for.

What about infant baptism? Again a doctrine that is no where in the Bible. The Bible always shows someone getting baptized after they got saved (believed on Jesus) What is the point of a infant getting baptized? It has no idea what is going on, it is just getting water pored over it's head. Also another thing that brings up is holy water, one of the most pointless things I think the catholics have. Now where does it say in the Bible for priest to bless water and then it is holy and to use it to baptize and "bless" our self, and splashing it all over the alter ect.? Another man made doctrine.

Jessi said...

NIV is just one of the perversions of the Bible. This clearly shows how The NIV and other perversions did not come from the original King James.

by Dr. Terry Watkins

". . . ye have PERVERTED the words of the living God. . ."
Jeremiah 23:36

This generation has a hunger for perversion. What was perversion just a few years ago, is now "normal". What was "hiding" in the closet is now "parading" in our streets. Perversion has found a welcome home - from the living room, to the White House; from our churches - to even the word of God!
Our friend Webster, defines "pervert" as 1. to cause to turn aside or away from what is good or true... 2. to twist the meaning or sense of: misinterpret (Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, 1977, p.856).

A perfect definition of The New International Version (NIV): "to cause to turn aside or away from what is good or true" and "to twist the meaning or sense of". If you doubt that, before you start reading this tract - get the NIV and check it as you read this tract!

The NIV perverts the deity of Jesus Christ!

I TIMOTHY 3:16: The clearest verse in the Bible proclaiming that Jesus Christ was God. The King James Bible (KJB) reads, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH. . ." The King James says, plainly, "GOD was manifest in the flesh". The NIV reads, "HE appeared in a body". The NIV "twists" "GOD" to "HE". "HE appeared in a body"? So What? Everyone has "appeared in a body"! "He" is a pronoun that refers to a noun or antecedent. There is no antecedent in the context! The statement does NOT make sense! The NIV subtilty (see Genesis 3:1) perverts I Timothy 3:16 into utter nonsense!

PHILIPPIANS 2:6: The KJB again, clearly declares the deity of Jesus Christ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD" The NIV reads, "Who, being in very nature God, DID NOT CONSIDER EQUALITY WITH GOD something to be grasped,". The NIV again subtitly perverts the deity of Jesus Christ!

The NIV perverts the virgin birth!

LUKE 2:33: The King James Bible reads, "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." The NIV reads, "The CHILD'S FATHER and mother marveled at what was said about him." The "CHILD'S FATHER"? Was Joseph Jesus's father? Not if you believe the virgin birth! Not if you believe John 3:16, that Jesus Christ was the Son of God! A subtil, "perversion" of the virgin birth. See also Luke 2:43.

The NIV removes the blood of Jesus Christ!

COLOSSIANS 1:14: The KJB reads, "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, even the forgiveness of sins:" The NIV reads, "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." The NIV rips out the precious words "THROUGH HIS BLOOD"! Friend, redemption is ONLY "THROUGH HIS BLOOD". Hebrews 9:22, reads, ". . . without shedding of BLOOD is no remission." That old song says, "What can wash away my sins, NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!"

The NIV perverts John 3:16 into a LIE!

JOHN 3:16: The NIV reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his ONE AND ONLY SON, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" Jesus was NOT "the one and only son" - Adam is called the "son of God" in Luke 3:38, there are "sons of God" in Job 1:6 and Christians are called "sons of God" in Phil 2:15, I John 3:2- but Jesus was the "ONLY BEGOTTEN SON"! By removing the critical word "BEGOTTEN" - The NIV perverts John 3:16 into a LIE! The NIV does the same in John 1:14, 1:18, and 3:18.

Jessi said...

The NIV perverts TRUTH into LIES!

The NIV perverts Mark 1:2,3 into a LIE! The NIV reads "It is written in Isaiah the prophet: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way-a voice of one calling in the desert, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him." It is NOT written in Isaiah! "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" - is found in Malachi 3:1! The King James correctly reads: "As it is written in the PROPHETS, . . ." A better translation! Easier to read - BY A LIE!

Psalms 119:160 says, "Thy word is TRUE. . ." John 17:17 says, ". . . thy word is TRUTH." Titus 1:2 clearly says, ". . . God that CANNOT LIE" How could the God of Titus 1:2 be the God of Mark 1:2,3 in the NIV!? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! For Hebrews 6:18 clearly declares, ". . . it was IMPOSSIBLE for God to LIE" It is impossible for the LIES in the NIV to be the words of GOD! Whose words are they? I'll give you a hint - Jesus Christ calls him "A LIAR, and the father of it" in John 8:44!

The NIV again openly LIES in 2 Samuel 21:19, ". . . Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod." What 8-year-old doesn't know that David killed Goliath?

Romans 1:18-32 describes the "path to perversion" and verse 25, describes their decline, "Who changed the TRUTH of God into a LIE. . ."! Not surprisingly, The NIV perverts Romans 1:25 from "CHANGED the truth of God INTO a lie" to "EXCHANGED the truth of God FOR a lie"!

The NIV and sexual perversion!

Romans 1:26-32 also shows the "fruits" of "sowing" ". . . the TRUTH of God into a LIE. . ." Verses 26-27 says "FOR THIS CAUSE (vs 25 for "changing the TRUTH of God into a LIE") God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, . . ."

The last few years homosexuality and sexual perversion have "exploded" into the mainstream. Legislation is now pending making same-sex marriages legal. Books such as Heather Has Two Mommies and Daddy's Roommate, promoting homosexuality, are in our schools. According to The Washington Post, bisexuality and homosexuality, are the "in thing" in our public schools. And even churches are now welcoming homosexuals and are even ordaining them in the ministry!

A literary critic on the NIV translation was homosexual author Dr. Virginia Mollenkott. In Episcopal, Witness (June 1991, pp. 20-23), she admits, "My lesbianism has ALWAYS been a part of me. . ." To no surprise, "sodomite" is completely removed from the NIV. (Deut. 23:17, I Kings 14:24, 15:12, 22:46, II Kings 23:7) And of course, I Cor. 6:9, ". . . effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. . ." is replaced with the non-offensive ". . . nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders. . ." Notice the NIV in I Cor. 6:9 does NOT condemn "homosexuals" or the "act of homosexuality" - but ONLY "homosexual OFFENDERS".

The NIV & Zondervan

A little known fact: In 1988 Zondervan and the NIV was purchased by Harper & Row, Publishers (now HarperCollins Publishers). HarperCollins publishes "pro-homosexual" books such as Making Out, The Book of Lesbian Sex and Sexuality described as "Beautifully illustrated with full-color photography,. . . Making Out is the complete illustrated guide to lesbian sexuality and relationships. . .the intricacies of love play. . ." and many other pro-homosexual books!

HarperCollins is a subsidiary of the global media empire, The News Corporation, owned by Rupert Murdock. The News Corporation empire include Fox Broadcasting, Twentieth Century Fox, and more than 128 newspapers. Fox Broadcasting produces some of the most sexually lewd shows on television. Murdock also publishes the British newspaper, the Sun, notorious for its nude pin-ups.

VERY IMPORTANT! For the REAL PROOF Check out this link to HarperCollins

Now where is Don Wildmon when we really need him? Don was quick to boycott Kmart because subsidiary, Waldenbooks sold Playboy and Penthouse. Kmart can't "hold a candle" to the "filth" spewed by The News Corporation. Why isn't Don boycotting Zondervan and the NIV? Friend, every time you purchase the NIV you are giving to people who produce pro-homosexuality, pornographic material — AND THE SATANIC BIBLE! "Can two walk together, except they be AGREED?" Amos 3:3

Jesus Christ plainly said in Matthew 7:17-18:

Even so every GOOD tree bringeth forth GOOD fruit; but a CORRUPT tree bringeth forth EVIL FRUIT. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a CORRUPT tree bring forth GOOD FRUIT. (Matthew 7:17-18)

Do you think Jesus Christ was LIEING?

Do you really believe God would ALLOW His HOLY word to be "owned" by that group? ". . .for what fellowship hath RIGHTEOUSNESS with UNRIGHTEOUSNESS? and what communion hath light with darkness?"2 Cor. 6:14

Do you actually believe God would ALLOW His Holy Word to published by the same ungodly people who publish the Satanic Bible?

Being born again, not of CORRUPTIBLE seed, but of INCORRUPTIBLE, by the WORD OF GOD, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter 1:23)

Isn't it EQUALLY amazing that the King James Bible is the ONLY Bible that is not OWNED by men?

That's right! The King James Bible has no COPYRIGHT ownership! It's copyright is the CROWN COPYRIGHT which ALLOWS it to be published by ANYONE, ANYTIME! Without asking ANYBODY for permission!

". . .but the word of God is NOT BOUND." 2 Timothy 2:9

The NIV robs Jesus Christ of worship!

In Matt. 8:2, 9:18, 15:25, 18:26, 20:20, Mark 5:6, 15:19 "worshipped him" is removed in the NIV! Why doesn't the NIV want Jesus Christ to be worshipped? Hint: see Luke 4:7, Matt. 4:9.

The NIV perverts Jesus Christ into Lucifer!

Isaiah 14:14 reveals Satan's grandest desire, "I will be like the most High." And with a little subtil perversion - the NIV in Isaiah 14:12 grants Satan's wish!

ISAIAH 14:12: The KJB reads, "How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning!. . ." The NIV PERversion reads, "How you have fallen from heaven, O MORNING STAR, son of the dawn. . ." The NIV change "Lucifer" to "MORNING STAR".

BUT WAIT. . . I thought the Lord Jesus Christ was the MORNING STAR?

Doesn't Revelation 22:16 say, "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and MORNING STAR".

The NIV CLEARY AND BLATANTLY makes LUCIFER -- The Lord Jesus Christ! WHAT BLASPHEMY! WHAT PERVERSION! And Christians claim the NIV is a "better translation"!

ISAIAH 14:15: The King James Bible condemns Lucifer to hell: "Yet thou shalt be brought down to HELL . . ." The NIV does NOT condemn Lucifer to HELL! The NIV reads, "But you are brought down to the GRAVE. . ." We all go to the GRAVE! Why doesn't the NIV want Satan in hell?

The NIV removes and perverts the place of hell!

The word "hell" occurs 31 times in the Old Testament in the King James Bible. In the Old Testament of the NIV it occurs - ZERO! The word "hell" is NOT in the Old Testament of the NIV!

And what do they do with "hell"? Take PSALM 9:17 for example: The King James reads, "The wicked shall be turned into HELL. . ." The NIV, reads, "The wicked return to the GRAVE. . ." We ALL "return to the GRAVE"! By removing "hell" the NIV perverts Psalm 9:17 into nonsense!

In the New Testament the NIV zaps out "hell" 9 times. And what "clearer" "easier to understand" word does the NIV "update" hell with? Five times they use - HADES! (Matt 16:18, Rev 1:18, 6:8, 20:13,14) What "common person" understands HADES? Everybody knows what HELL is! Do you know what HADES is? Hades is not always a place of torment or terror. The Assyrian Hades is an abode of blessedness with silver skies called "Happy Fields". In the satanic New Age Movement, Hades is an intermediate state of purification! Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines HADES: "the underground abode of the dead in Greek MYTHOLOGY". The NIV perverts your Bible into MYTHOLOGY!

The NIV perverts The Lord's Prayer into The Devil's Prayer!

LUKE 11:2-4: The KJB reads, ". . .Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil." The NIV removes everything that refers to a Holy God in heaven -"WHICH ART IN HEAVEN. . . Thy will be done, AS IN HEAVEN, so in earth. . . but DELIVER US FROM EVIL." Everything that distinguishes God from the Devil is REMOVED! "OUR FATHER" of the NIV is "NOT IN HEAVEN" and "DOES NOT DELIVER FROM EVIL!" I wonder who it could be? (hint: see John 8:44)

The Bible warns against taking away and adding to the words of God!

Deuteronomy 4:2 reads: "YE SHALL NOT ADD unto the word which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH ought from it . . ."

Proverbs 30:6, reads, "ADD THOU NOT unto his words . . ."

And just in case you missed it, GOD'S LAST WARNING is Revelation 22:18,19, ". . . If any man SHALL ADD unto these things. . . And if any man shall TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORDS of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life. . ."

And Jesus Christ, in Luke 8:12, gives a clear aim of Satan, ". . . then cometh the devil, and TAKETH AWAY the word . . ."

The NIV completely "TAKETH AWAY" 17 verses!

Wonderful and precious verses like:
MATTHEW 18:11: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.".
ACTS 8:37: "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

The NIV PERversion completely "TAKETH AWAY" Matthew 17:21, 18:11, 23:14, Mark 7:16, 9:44, 9:46, 11:26, 15:28, Luke 17:36, 23:17, John 5:4, Acts 8:37, 15:34, 24:7, 28:28, Romans 16:24 and 1 John 5:7!

After Mark 16:8 the NIV says, "The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20." ZAP-There goes another 12 verses! And by the way, that is absolutely untrue! The book, The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark, by Dean Burgon contains over 400 pages of documented evidence for Mark 16:9-20, that has never been refuted, nor ever will!

After John 7:52, the NIV, reads, "The earliest and most reliable manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have John 7:53-8:11" ZAP-There goes another 12 verses!

Matt. 12:47, 21:44, Luke 22:43 and 22:44 are all removed in the footnotes!

That's 45 complete verses the NIV removes from the text or in the footnotes!

Jessi said...

The NIV "TAKETH AWAY" 64,576 words!

Don't look for the "mercyseat" in the NIV - GONE!
Don't look for "Jehovah" in the NIV - GONE!
Don't look for the "Godhead" in the NIV - GONE!

The NIV removes wonderful Bible "terms" like remission, regeneration, impute, propitiation, new testament and many others!

Despite God's clear warnings about "taking away" from His words - the NIV removes 64,576 words! Over 8 percent of God's word is "TAKETH AWAY"!

That equals REMOVING the books of Ruth, Esther, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Malachi, Colossians, I Thessalonians, II Thessalonians, I Timothy, II Timothy, Titus, Philemon, James, I Peter, II Peter, I John, II John, III John, Jude and more - COMBINED!!! The equivalence of ripping out OVER 30 BOOKS of the Bible!

In case you think it's insignificant words like "thee" and "thou"? The NIV removes major portions of at least 147 verses!

Here's a small (very small) sampling of words removed in the NIV!

Matt. 6:13, "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
Matt. 15:8, "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth"
Matt. 19:9, "and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery."
Matt. 20:7, "and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive."
Matt. 20:16, "for many be called, but few chosen."
Matt. 20:22, "and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with"
Matt. 25:13, "wherein the Son of Man cometh."
Matt. 27:35, "that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet They parted my garments among them and upon my vesture did they cast lots"
Mark 6:11, "Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."

Jessi said...

Mark 10:21, "take up the cross."
Luke 1:28, "blessed art thou among women"
Luke 4:4, "but by every word of God"
Luke 4:8, "get thee behind me Satan"
Luke 4:18, "he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted"
Luke 11:2-4, "Our ... which art in ... Thy will be done, as in heaven so in earth... but deliver us from evil"
John 1:27, "is preferred before me"
John 3:13, "which is in heaven"
John 3:15, "should not perish"
John 11:41, "from the place where the dead was laid"
John 16:16, "because I go to the Father"
Acts 10:6, "he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do"
Acts 15:18, "Known unto God are all his works"
Acts 20:24, "But none of these things move me"
Acts 23:9, "let us not fight against God"
Rom. 8:1, "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit"
Rom. 13:9, "Thou shalt not bear false witness"
I Cor. 6:20, "and in your spirit which are God's"
I Cor. 11:24; "Take eat... broken"
II Cor. 10:4, "but mighty through God"
Gal. 3:1, "that you should not obey the truth"
Eph. 5:30, "of his flesh, and of his bones"
Phil. 3:16, "let us mind the same thing"
I Tim. 6:5, "from such wthdraw thyself"
Heb. 7:21, "after the order of Melchisedec"
I Pet. 1:22, "through the Spirit"
I Pet. 4:14, "on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified"
I John 4:3, "Christ is come in the flesh"
I John 5:13, "and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God"
Rev. 1:11, "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last"
Rev. 5:14, "him that liveth for ever and ever"
Rev. 14:5, "before the throne of God"
Rev. 21:24, "of them which are saved"

Jesus Christ says, in Luke 4:4, ". . . It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD of God." But not according to the NIV! In fact, the NIV even "TAKETH AWAY" the last half of Luke 4:4 - "BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD"! And Jesus Christ was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3 to Satan! Does the NIV PERversion seriously think the Lord Jesus Christ does NOT know Duet. 8:3???

The LIES used to promote the NIV. . .

LIE 1) The NIV "just" updates the "archaic" words and makes it "easier to understand". Nothing is "really changed.
FACT: The NIV denys the deity of Jesus Christ; the virgin birth; glorifies Satan; openly lie; removes 17 complete verses and 64,576 words!

LIE 2) The NIV is easier to read and understand.
FACT: According to a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level research study, The King James Bible is by far the easiest! Out of 26 different categories - the King James graded easier in a whopping 23! In selected analysis, the KJB average grade level was 5.8 - the NIV was 8.4! (New Age Bible Versions, Riplinger, pp.195-209)

LIE 3) Older and more reliable manuscripts have been discovered since the King James Bible.
FACT: Dr. Sam Gipp writes, "The fact is, that the King James translators had ALL OF THE READINGS available to them that modern critics have available to them today." (The Answer Book, Gipp, p.110) And furthermore, it is a well documented fact that 90 - 95 per cent of all readings agree with the King James Bible!

LIE 4) The NIV is more accurate.
FACT: The KJB is a literal word for word translation. When the translators had to add words for sentence structure they are in italics. The NIV uses "dynamic equivalence". Rather than a word for word translation, they add, change and subtract to make the verse say what they "thought" it should! The Preface to the NIV even says, ". . .they have striven for more than a word-for-word translation.

The NIV is what I see a lot of catholic use, the other versions used are much the same as what this shows.

Jessi,

Your copy and paste remarks are making me dizzy. Please post questions. I will give you the Catholic Answer.

These rants/rambling remarks are too much. I would rather hear your own questions rather than read things from the internet that you've picked over.

Thank you.
